When I last wrote a reflection to share in October, I felt there was more to share so here I go again.

We are talking about praying through music and songs. We are talking connecting with God—–Father, Son and Holy Spirit. In case you haven’t read my other reflection, I find that I am most connected to God when I spend time in prayer through praise and worship time daily.

This morning I woke up and my spirit was singing Michael W. Smith’s “Surrounded”.  I went to sleep last night with deep concern for a family member.  I asked the Lord to be at work in our lives and gave my concerns to Him as I placed my head on the pillow. As I got awake enough to do it; I asked Alexa to play music by Michael W. and what came on?  Surrounded. Now this is what I call the Holy Spirit letting me know that I am in His hands and that when I’m overwhelmed, He is surrounding me. What a powerful new day:

I know this will be three weeks into the new year, but I’d like to ask you to make a new promise to yourself. I’d like to ask you to spend more time in prayer connecting to our Lord. I’m going to share some songs and something instrumental you can have as a starter package. If music isn’t your tool for connection, find what your tool is and spend time this year in connection with our God.

I am going to share another song for when things are tough. We all go through these times in our lives and I pray that this will help you Raise a Hallelujah.

Praising God is how I like to start most praise, worship, and prayer times. It brings to mind all the goodness of God.

Michael W. Smith-

Matt Redman-

One reason I share the videos with you is that you can click and then try and listen and pray that song. Maybe listen once and then select the song that touches your heart to pray. I use Spotify to make lists for prayer times, I use Alexa to play praise and worship stations to hear new music and to remind me of oldies, but goodies. If you need help setting up or finding music I can help.

Now sometimes I just want to be still and listen for the Holy Spirit so I play nature sounds (or sit in nature) and sometimes I listen to something instrumental.

Jim Brickman, Amazing Grace-

There are many YouTube Video lists of Instrumental Worship music. Find a peaceful place to be and play some soothing hymns or songs. Relax and spend time thinking about things your thankful for, give praise to God, ask Him to be near you—-listen, be aware of your attitude and your mood. If it is hard to be still/quiet, start with just a song. Make notes of your thoughts and mood.  I find that when I spend time listening to God and praising God silently or out loud I hear God and He is right here guiding me through good times and in tough times.

I want to share one more of my favorites from Rich Mullins with you.

“If I stand”

Maythe blessings of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit be with you now and in this new year.

Sing Your Praise to the Lord!!!
