Celebrating our Deacons, Pentecost, and the Gift of the Holy Spirit
This Pentecost Sunday, we experienced a sacred and joy-filled day as we welcomed and celebrated four new deacons stepping into a deeper calling of servant leadership.
Surrounded by family, friends, and our church community, we witnessed heartfelt yeses and had the privilege of praying over these precious servants as they stepped forward in faith.
Their ordination represented more than accepting a title or position. It was a commitment to walking beside others, seeing Jesus in people, showing up for the hurting, helping meet needs within our church family, and revealing the heart of Christ through lives marked by humility, compassion, and faithful love.
Jesus Himself said:
“Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant.” Matthew 20:26
As we celebrated their yes, we reflected on the wonder of Pentecost and the gift of the Holy Spirit poured out with power, purpose, and love. The same Spirit that called and equipped the disciples continues moving among us today—awakening purpose, stirring souls, and inviting each of us into the sacred work of loving and serving others.
“For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God…” 2 Timothy 1:6
Their willingness to step forward creates a holy ripple effect, showing us that God continues inviting ordinary people into extraordinary Kingdom work.
“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” 1 Peter 4:10
As we reflect on this sacred day, perhaps we can each pause and ask ourselves:
“Lord, what might You be inviting me into?”
Maybe it is showing compassion to someone who feels unseen.
Maybe it is offering a prayer, extending kindness, or stepping forward in faith.
Maybe it is discovering a purpose beyond ourselves and allowing God to use our gifts in ways we never imagined.
Because in the Kingdom of God, it is not about position; it is about presence.
It is about showing up, loving through His heart, serving through His hands, and carrying His light into the lives of those around us.

Arrive to Sunday Service Prepared to Hear God’s Word Proclaimed
The reading for this Sunday, May 31, Trinity Sunday is John 3:16-18. Here is a reflection on the passage.
On Trinity Sunday, Christians celebrate one of the deepest mysteries of our faith: God is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — one God in a communion of perfect love. While the Trinity can seem difficult to fully understand, Jesus gives us something very simple and personal in John 3:16–18: “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son…” The Trinity is not first an abstract doctrine to solve; it is the story of God reaching toward us in love.
The Father loves the world. The Son is given for the salvation of the world. The Holy Spirit continues to dwell within us and leads us into truth and life. God’s very nature is self-giving love. We were created in that image, which means our lives find meaning not in living only for ourselves but in learning how to love as God loves.
Trinity Sunday invites us to ask a practical question: How am I living in the image of the Trinity? We live it out when we choose relationship over isolation, forgiveness over resentment, generosity over selfishness, and service over indifference. Parents live it through sacrificial love for their children. Friends live it through presence and compassion. Christians live it by becoming people who give rather than simply receive.
One practical way to celebrate this feast is to consciously make the Sign of the Cross throughout the day and pause to think about its meaning: “In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.” Rather than saying the words automatically, remember that you are placing your life within God's love. Then ask: How can I reflect the love of the Father, the mercy of the Son, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit today?
The mystery of the Trinity is not only something we believe; it is something we are called to live. We are invited into God's own life of love and sent into the world to share that love with others.
