This past Wednesday was a very busy day at Praise and Worship. Thank you to all who came out for “Pizza with the Pastors” and Worship Night. We had a wonderful time and it was so good to see so many of our community members. There is one more Worship Night next Wednesday.
Our fall 2026 calendar is coming out soon. We are putting the final touches on it! We look forward to seeing you this weekend!

Praying to Be Free
|
We pray to know not only in our head, but in our heart, and in the center of our being that we are fully loved. That is why we pray. We pray so we can walk around this world and not be so needy, not be wounding others, and not be giving so we can get something in return. We pray to be free.

Arrive to Sunday Service Prepared to Hear God’s Word Proclaimed
The reading for this Sunday, August 23, the 21st in Ordinary Time is Matthew 16:13-20. Here is a reflection on the passage.
Matthew 16:13-20 invites us to consider one of the most important questions we will ever answer: “Who do you say that I am?” Jesus asks His disciples this question not simply to test their knowledge, but to invite them into a deeper relationship with Him.
Peter responds, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” Peter recognizes that Jesus is more than a teacher, prophet, or good man. He is the Savior—the One who has come to bring us into relationship with God.
Jesus asks the same question of us today: Who is Jesus to you? Is He simply someone we hear about on Sunday, or is He truly at the center of our lives? Our answer is revealed not only by what we say, but by how we live, how we treat others, how we respond to difficulties, and where we place our trust.
Notice that Peter does not discover the answer through his own wisdom. Jesus tells him that this truth has been revealed by God. Faith is ultimately a gift—a gift we are invited to receive and nurture.
Today, perhaps we can simply pray: “Jesus, help me to know who You truly are. Help me to trust You more deeply and to live my life as a response to Your love.”
The question Jesus asked Peter is still before us: “Who do you say that I am?” May our lives give the answer: “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
