Come to Sunday Service Prepared to Hear God’s Word Proclaimed
The scripture reading for this Sunday, the Third Sunday of Easter is: Here is a synopsis of the reading.
In Luke 24:35-48, we encounter a profound moment of revelation and commissioning. The disciples are gathered together, still reeling from the events of Jesus' crucifixion and the reports of His resurrection. In their midst, Jesus appears, offering them peace and demonstrating the reality of His bodily resurrection by showing them His hands and feet.

As Christians, this passage invites us to reflect on several key themes:
1. The Reality of the Resurrection: Jesus' appearance among the disciples underscores the reality of His resurrection. It was not a mere spiritual event or a collective hallucination but a tangible, bodily resurrection. This challenges us to reaffirm our faith in the resurrection and its transformative power in our lives.
2. The Peace of Christ: Jesus' greeting of "Peace be with you" echoes throughout the ages, offering comfort and assurance to His followers. In the midst of uncertainty and fear, His peace brings calmness to our souls. As we navigate life's challenges, we can find solace in the peace that only Christ can offer.
3. The Scriptures Fulfilled: Jesus opens the minds of the disciples to understand the Scriptures concerning His suffering, death, and resurrection. This emphasizes the importance of studying and meditating on God's Word to grasp the depth of His redemptive plan. Through scripture, we gain insight into God's character and His purposes for our lives.
4. The Commission to Proclaim: Jesus commissions His disciples to be witnesses of these things. They are to proclaim repentance and forgiveness of sins to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. This mandate extends to us as well. As followers of Christ, we are called to share the good news of salvation with others, inviting them into relationship with God.
5. Empowered by the Holy Spirit: Jesus instructs the disciples to wait in Jerusalem until they are clothed with power from on high. This anticipates the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, who empowers believers for ministry. Likewise, we rely on the Holy Spirit to guide, strengthen, and equip us as we fulfill our calling to share the gospel.

Luke 24:35-48 invites us to contemplate the profound implications of Jesus' resurrection and our role as witnesses of His saving grace. May we embrace the reality of His resurrection, experience His peace, delve into the Scriptures, proclaim the gospel boldly, and rely on the empowering presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives.

Have a blessed weekend, we look forward to seeing you on Sunday at 10:00 am for service. Please pray for peace in our world and in people’s hearts.

Love,
Fr. Dale and Pastor Mark
