A Message from Deacon Dennis Paschke

I want to let you know that after five years heading the launch and operation of the ministry of Recovery Cafe Arizona, I have made the decision to step down in my role effective May 2024.

This is not an easy decision but it's a decision arrived at after much prayer and consideration and it will allow Dawn and I to focus on our family first. As with any ministry startup it has been quite an exhilarating experience!

The Café is exceeding our original goals and continues to grow! We have a beautiful space and healing is happening! The Cafe has a strong Board and is up and operating well. The dream has taken root and is being realized! I have been asked by the Board to continue as a Board member and I have agreed to do so.

Our Operations Manager, Anthony Eaton will assume the role of Director for Recovery Café Arizona in May. Anthony came to us as a member of the Café about 18 months ago on his recovery journey. He readily admits that he is today in his recovery, in large part because of what the Café offered him.

I am convinced that the good work that has been the Recovery Café Arizona will continue to grow and be ever more impactful.

In Christ,
Deacon Dennis

Come to Sunday Service Prepared to Hear God’s Word Proclaimed
The scripture reading for this Sunday, the Fourth Sunday of Easter is: John 10:11-18. Here is a synopsis of the reading.

In John 10:11-18, Jesus portrays Himself as the Good Shepherd, a profound image that resonates deeply within the Christian faith. This passage invites believers into a contemplative reflection on the nature of Jesus' love, His sacrificial mission, and the intimate relationship He desires to have with His followers.

As Christians, we are called to meditate on the significance of Jesus as the Good Shepherd who lays down His life for His sheep. This act of selflessness exemplifies the depth of God's love for humanity. Jesus willingly sacrificed Himself to save us from sin and death, illustrating the ultimate expression of love and redemption.

Moreover, Jesus emphasizes His intimate knowledge of His sheep, highlighting the personal and caring relationship He shares with each believer. As His followers, we are invited to trust in His guidance and provision, knowing that He leads us with wisdom and compassion.

In contemplating this passage, Christians are encouraged to reflect on their own relationship with Jesus. Are we willing to heed His voice and follow Him wherever He leads? Do we trust in His provision and protection, even in the midst of uncertainty and challenges?

Additionally, John 10:11-18 calls us to emulate the example of Jesus as selfless shepherds in our own lives. We are called to love and care for others, following the example set forth by our Savior. This includes extending grace, compassion, and sacrificial love to those around us, just as Jesus did for us.

Ultimately, John 10:11-18 reminds us of the profound depth of Jesus' love and the transformative power of His sacrifice. It calls us to deepen our relationship with Him, trust in His guidance, and live out His love in our daily lives. As we embrace Jesus as our Good Shepherd, may we experience the fullness of life that He promises to His flock.

Please pray for peace in our world, especially in the Middle East and in people’s hearts. Have a wonderful weekend, we look forward to seeing you on Sunday at 10:00 am for service.

Love,
Fr. Dale and Pastor Mark
