Dear Friend,

The School of Prayer
continues tonight
at 7:00 here at PWC!

The School of Prayer will explore different ways and styles of prayer and why we are called to prayer as Christians. The goal of the School of Prayer is to explain and experience how one can have an intimate relationship with God through prayer. You are most welcome to invite your friends! If you missed the first session you are most welcomed to still attend.

Mark your calendars for the other Wednesday evenings: October 26, November 2 and 9 from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm. In-Person Only.

Please join us to Lectio Divina and Contemplative Prayer tonight through November 9 from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm. It is prior to the School of Prayer. If you have any questions, please contact Deacon Karen Klemens.

Our Shoebox Ministry is off to an incredible start! Thank you to all those took shoeboxes. All the shoeboxes were taken on Sunday, this is wonderful! The deadline to return the shoeboxes is November 13. Please Note: You are requested to put a $10.00 bill in the shoebox to cover postage, this was not stated on Sunday at service during the presentation.

Feed My Starving Children is meeting this Thursday, October 20 from 2:00 pm to 3:45 pm. Please contact Deacon Peter Klemens for more information at [email protected]

As announced on Sunday, our collections have been down. If you have not been giving, we would ask you to bring it to prayer and ask the Lord to guide you. It is important for you to know your tithing allows The Praise and Worship Center to meet the spiritual, emotional, and physical needs of our community and the greater community in the East Valley. From pastoral counseling to grief support, to Bible Study, to Adult Education, to providing food through Matthew’s Crossing for families who are economically unstable to PWC Kids and Marriage Enrichment; your consistent giving makes a difference, a big difference!
Here are the different ways you can tithe to PWC:

A Reflection
by Henri Nouwen
on Suffering
The poor we see every day, the stories about deportation, torture, and murder we hear every day, and the undernourished children we touch every day, reveal to us the suffering Christ has hidden within us. When we allow this image of the suffering Christ within us to grow to its full maturity, then ministry to the poor and oppressed becomes a real possibility; because then we can indeed hear, see, and touch him within us as well as among us. Once we have seen the suffering Christ within us, we will see him wherever we see people in pain. Once we have seen the suffering Christ among us, we will recognize him in our innermost self. Thus we come to experience that the first commandment, to love God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind, resembles indeed the second: “You must love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew 22:39–40).

We are looking forward to seeing you tonight for the School of Prayer. Please also make the commitment to in-person Sunday worship at 10:00 am. We continue to pray for those who struggle in our society and for peace in Ukraine.
