Meet the PWC Deacons

Deacon Fred Pratt

My name is Fred Pratt and I’m the deacon of funerals. My life started in a small town called Baraboo, Wisconsin home of the Ringling Brothers Circus. I went on to attend the University of Wisconsin and upon graduation, I started in the hotel business managing over 20 hotels that lasted 40 years.

I am married to Priscilla Bertoglio, and we have a son, Nick, and three grandsons. You probably know that our grandsons are the joy of our lives.

When Father Dale announced the deacon program, I was hesitant to apply not knowing if I would be able to fulfill the duties. But I went ahead and applied, and that decision has been one of the best decisions I have made. I started out as deacon of the children which I really enjoyed. But as the children grew up and out of the program, I was asked to take on funerals. After some thought, I decided I could work with the grieving families and help plan their loved one’s send off. This consists of planning the rituals and the reception. I do this with the help of Jan and the rest of the dedicated staff.

I am also involved with the I-Help program that once-a-month hosts about 20-25 homeless people in building 4:12. This program provides dinner, a safe place to spend the night, breakfast the next morning and a sack lunch as they leave to their next destination. Again, this program is successful under the direction of Pastor Mark and the caring and generous people who donate money, contribute food and their time for the cause.

I am part of Feed My Starving Children program, the Saturday cleaning crew, counting the collection on Sunday and when needed, helping in the gift shop.

I have grown spiritually as well as my love for our Lord. Being a part of theses ministries has been rewarding. I am committed and honored to serve the people of this community and look forward to many more years. I am truly blessed!

We look forward to seeing you on Sunday at 10:00 am for worship. We hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Fr. Dale and Pastor Mark
