Dear Friend,

The Women’s Ministry will meet tomorrow, Saturday, December 17 from 10:00 am to 12 noon for our Christmas Potluck in Building 4:12.
Since this is a potluck, please bring a dish to share. We always have a delightful time at this annual holiday event! What a great way to start your weekend, delicious food, and wonderful fellowship with other women in our PWC community!

Please join us for the Memorial Service for Jerry Peirce tomorrow, Saturday, December 17 at 1:00 pm in the church. There will be a reception in the back of church immediately following the service.

We have one more Sunday morning session of Fr. Dale’s Sunday Bible School Class this Sunday, December 18
from 8:45 am to 9:30 am in Building 4:12. The series continues with the Book of Isaiah. Even if you missed the first two sessions, you are most welcome to attend.

Our Sunday Service begins at 10:00 am In-Person and on Facebook Live for those who cannot physically attend.

The scripture reading for this Sunday, The Fourth Sunday of Advent, December 18 is Matthew 1:18-24. Here is a synopsis of the reading: An angel appears to Joseph, directing him to take Mary as his wife and telling him that the child she will bear will be called Emmanuel. Please come to Sunday worship prepared to hear the Word of God proclaimed; we invite you to read the scripture passage before service. The music for this Sunday can be found on the top-right hand corner of our website.

PWC Kids: This Sunday December 18: 9:30 am to 10:30 am in Building 4:12. Contact Rachel Freeman for more information about PWC Kids at 480-649-0300 or [email protected]. At PWC Kids we break open the Word of God that is proclaimed at Sunday Service in a creative, inspirational way designed so young people can understand the scripture reading. Please Note: PWC Kids is for young people grades K through Five only.

The Christmas Worship Night is next Wednesday, December 21 from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm in the church.
It promises to be a night of inspiration and Christmas music. You are most welcome to invite friends and family members to this annual spiritual event.

A Reflection from
Henri Nouwen on Joy
Joy does not come from positive predictions about the state of the world. It does not depend on the ups and downs of the circumstances of our lives. Joy is based on the spiritual knowledge that, while the world in which we live is shrouded in darkness, God has overcome the world. Jesus says it loudly and clearly: “In the world you will have troubles, but rejoice, I have overcome the world.”

The surprise is not that, unexpectedly, things turn out better than expected. No, the real surprise is that God’s light is more real than all the darkness, that God’s truth is more powerful than all human lies, that God’s love is stronger than death.

We look forward to seeing you on Sunday at 10:00 am for worship for the Fourth Sunday of Advent! Have a wonderful weekend!

Love,
Fr. Dale and Pastor Mark
