Dear Friend,

Join us tonight at 7:00 pm in the church for our adult education series entitled: Seeking to Listen! It feels we live in a world where we just talk over each other. Everyone seems to have strong opinions and they think they are always correct. In many ways we have lost the art of respectful listening. Join Fr. Dale and Pastor Mark as we take on some different and difficult issues where people have strong opinions. Our goal is not to verbally beat one another up, but to respectfully hear what people have to say. Fr. Mike is going to join us tonight for the first session to help us develop listening skills. If you have an issue you would like to see discussed, please call the church office at 480-649-0300 and leave a message. Please mark your calendar for the other dates: July 20, & 27 at 7:00 pm. It will be in person only.

Contemplative Prayer and Leccio Divina are two of the great treasures of the Christian tradition of prayer. Please join us second Wednesday, July 13 via Zoom from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm. This is the link: ZOOM LINK. Contact Deacon Karen for more information.

A Spiritual Director or Companion provides support and listens for the signs of the Spirit at work in your life. He/she is there to assist the seeker in discovering their deepest identity in Christ and as a sounding board as one searches for meaning and purpose in life. Deacon Karen is a fellow seeker who has been formed, rooted, and trained in the ancient Christian contemplative tradition. She is available to meet Wednesday afternoons by appointment. If interested, please contact her at 602-677-4027.

Here is the last opportunity for now to help with Recovery Café: volunteer for Barista & Kitchen work. The training is tomorrow, Thursday, July 14: 1:30-3:00pm, at PWC. Please RSVP to enroll to Dawn Paschke: [email protected] or Cafe Admin: [email protected]

We need one volunteer each Sunday and our goal is to have enough people to rotate every eight to 12 weeks. Please email Tami Heinl, at [email protected] or at the church office at 480-649-0300. Thank you for your support and prayers and we look forward to serving TOGETHER!

In Memoriam: Sandy Thiernau
As many of you heard on Sunday, Sandy passed away on Friday afternoon. Sandy, a fixture at the Praise and Worship Center, was committed to making PWC a better and holier place for all who entered our doors and worshipped here. Sandy “volunteered” or the proper word would be “ministered” at PWC, Sundays through Thursdays, and sometimes coming in on Fridays and Saturdays if needed. You could always find her in the office proofing email blasts or website reflections, cutting up communion bread in the kitchen, arranging food for an event, ordering supplies from Costco or a variety of other stores, or assisting with Sunday worship. Sandy’s funeral is scheduled for Monday, July 25 at 5:00 pm in the church. As Matthew 25:23 says: Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’ Our sincerest condolences go out to Sandy’s daughter and her family. Sandy, you will be missed; it already feels so strange not to have you around the office.

Fr. Dale and Pastor Mark
