Dear Friend,

We are collecting cereal for Matthew’s Crossing, for the needy in honor of our fathers, now through Father’s Day. The bags are in the church, and you are welcome to bring the cereal back on Sunday or during regular business hours. Please be generous. There is a tremendous need. So many young families are hurting right now. Unfortunately, Matthew’s Crossing has seen a tremendous uptick in the number of people requesting food assistance. Please write your father’s name on the bag as we remember our dads on Father’s Day.

Our Women’s Bible Study is meeting this Saturday, June 18 from 9:00 am to 10:30 am in the church. The theme for our bible study is the Psalms. If you have never been before to our Women’s Bible Study this is an excellent way to meet other Christian women in our community and to grow in your depth and understanding of Sacred Scripture. Breakfast will be served!

Men of PWC this is for you! The Brother’s Ministry will be meeting on June 18, this Saturday from 9:00 am to 10:30 am in Building 4:12 from 9:00 am to 10:30 am for a morning of fellowship, breakfast, and seeking to grow in our relationship with Jesus. The kids finish up at the worship service, coming back during the Lord’s Prayer. You are welcome to bring friends! We are growing PWC Kids and need your help! Calling all volunteers who have a heart for Jesus and who love kids! We want a few beautiful souls who can help on Sunday mornings from 9:30 am to 10:30 am in Building 4:12. We need one volunteer each Sunday and our goal is to have enough people to rotate every eight to 12 weeks. Please email Tami Heinl, at [email protected]et or at the church office at 480-649-0300. Thank you for your support and prayers and we look forward to serving TOGETHER!

Your tithing during the summer has been incredible, thank you! As you know many in our community go away for the summer to cooler locations. Your continued giving allows the ministry of the Praise and Worship Center to continue during these hot summer months. The work of the Lord and our community does not stop during the summer; people still need to be ministered to on a daily basis. Thank you for your commitment to the Praise and Worship Center. If you have been remiss in you giving, please bring it to prayer and ask the Lord to guide you.
Here are the different ways you can tithe to PWC:
Mail in your gift to: Praise and Worship Center, 2551 N. Arizona Avenue, Chandler, AZ 85225.
Donate on our web page: Donation Form.
Sign up for monthly giving with a credit card or voided check. Just call the office at 480-649-0300 or stop by the office.

Hopefully, now that the hot summer months have hit us, you are keeping cool and have a little more time on your hands. Now would be an excellent time to do some summer spiritual reading. Check out the library for some valuable reading material or the Cross Shop has some new and exciting spiritual reading material. There is a new book in the Cross Shop that was just ordered on basic Christianity. It is an excellent read!

Seeking to Listen! It feels like right now we live in a world where we just talk over each other. Everyone seems to have strong opinions and they think they are always correct. In many ways we have lost the art of respectful listening. In July, we are going to be taking on some different and difficult issues where people have strong opinions. Our goal is not to verbally beat one another up, but to respectfully hear what people have to say. If you have an issue you would like to see discussed, please call the church office at 480-649-0300 and leave a message. Please mark your calendar for these dates: July 13, 20, & 27 at 7:00 pm.

Our website reflections inspire every week! On Mondays a new reflection comes out each week written by members of our community. Click on our Weekly Reflection Tile and be nourished. Here is the link: Weekly Reflections Page. This week is Fr. Mike Lessard and next Monday, we hear from Deacon Cheryl Armstrong.

Joyce Bailey invites our community to join her on Sunday, June 19 from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm to celebrate African American Stories of Migration in honor of Juneteenth. It will be held at the Arizona Heritage Center, 1300 N. College Avenue, Tempe. This free event will have live performances, educational tables, food, and refreshments!

Our Prayer Retreat is next Saturday, June 25 at 10:00 am in Building 4:12. Join members of our deacon community deacon for this inspirational and motivating morning. Our theme for our prayer retreat is Praying for Revival in the World.

Fr. Mike Lessard is available for pastoral counseling on Monday and Wednesday mornings. Please call the church office to make an appointment at 480-649-0300. Fr. Mike is an excellent resource!

Our June calendar is online, please take advantage of all the wonderful opportunities at PWC: PWC June Calendar.

A Reflection from Henri Nouwen: God’s Acceptance of Us is Unlimited
Our true challenge is to return to the center, to the heart, and to find there the gentle voice that speaks to us and affirms us in a way no human voice ever could. The basis of all ministry is the experience of God’s unlimited and unlimiting acceptance of us as beloved children, an acceptance so full, so total and all-embracing, that it sets us free from our compulsion to be seen, praised, and admired and frees us for Christ, who leads us on the road of service.

This experience of God’s acceptance frees us from our needy self and thus creates new space where we can pay selfless attention to others. This new freedom in Christ allows us to move in the world uninhibited by our compulsions and to act creatively even when we are laughed at and rejected, even when our words and actions lead us to death.

With so much going on in our world, we pray the peace of Jesus will be able to center in people’s hearts, especially the lonely, the angry and those who feel disenfranchised.

Fr. Dale and Pastor Mark
