Dear Friend,

Our in-person services continue this Sunday, February 14 at 10:00 am. It is also Valentine’s Day! Our scripture reading for Sunday is Mark 1:40-45. Please read, reflect, and pray with the passage before Sunday.

The music for this Sunday can be found on the top right-hand corner of our website or below.

To participate in our service online, go to: PWC website and find the Facebook button at the top of our home page.

FYI, the office will be closed on Monday, February 15 for President’s Day.

Lent begins this Wednesday with Ash Wednesday on February 17. Here is what we are planning: Drive thru Distribution of Ashes; ashes will be available all day from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, and you do not need to get out of your car! We will also have a service in the church at 7:00 pm in person or on Facebook Live. Our theme for Lent 2021 is Lord Make Me an Instrument of Your Peace. Don’t forget to check your mailbox, we have sent you a postcard with Ash Wednesday information.

Springtime in the Valley is one of the most beautiful times of the year to be outside. For Lent, why not combine prayer and our wonderful weather by sitting in prayer by our St. Francis statue. You can social distance and be in the presence of God!

Lent is a time for reflection and preparedness. It is a time to fully and consciously enter the Paschal Mystery. All are invited to join us for Contemplative Prayer each Wednesday evening at 6:00 pm from February 17 through March 31. We come together to Listen to God’s Word (Lectio Divina) followed by a time of communing with and resting in Holy Presence. It is a graced experience to truly be with God, and one another, for the greater sake of our world. We will both gather at PWC and via Zoom. Here is the link:

Pastor Mark is here to help you get signed up for the COVID-19 vaccine. We have heard from a number of our members who have either signed up for their vaccine or have received their first shot. We are also acutely aware that some are struggling to get signed up. If you are having trouble navigating the site, please call Pastor Mark at the office, 480-649-0300, and he will assist you. Here is the link to register for the vaccine for Covid-19: https://podvaccine.azdhs.gov/. You can also call: 1-844-542-8201 or 602-542-1000.

Join us for our St. Patrick’s Day Virtual Dinner & Concert Fundraiser on Wednesday, March 17. It promises to be an enjoyable evening of entertaining fun with a wonderful Irish dinner, inspiring Irish music from our PWC band, and a teaching on St. Patrick! For only $25.00 you can purchase a dinner of Corned Beef and Cabbage, as well as potatoes and carrots, plus a dessert from Lisa’s Rum Cake. Our dinner is being donated by Sue and Pat Kieny from Native Grill in Maricopa. Their generous donation allows all proceeds of the dinner to go to the ministry of PWC! You will also receive some “St. Patrick’s swag” (ie: St. Patrick’s Day hat and glasses) to wear during the dinner and concert. We will want you to take a picture of yourself and send it to us here at the PWC.

You will also have the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets at $5.00 each for our 50/50 Raffle. There will be items available for auction. Those who live out of state, or those wanting to help the homeless, can purchase a meal for a homeless shelter for $25.00. Your Irish dinner can be picked up on Wednesday, March 17 from 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm here at PWC. Take it home, enjoy the meal, and watch the concert from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Facebook Live. The deadline to order a meal is Sunday, March 14. You will be able to purchase tickets online or in the church office. More details are coming soon, please put the date of your calendar.

This past year we saw a significant increase in the prayer needs and requests from our community, family, and friends. In response, the Prayer Chain Ministry is planning for growth! To kick-start 2021, we are hosting an Enlistment Campaign to encourage more PWC members to COMMIT or RECOMMIT to being part of our faithful prayer team. To sign up for the Prayer Chain, please call the church office at 480-649-0300. We will then host an All-Team Training Session, date and time to be determined. The meeting link will be sent out prior to Saturday's training.

If you are interested in helping with Feed My Starving Children on Thursday, February 25 from 3:00 pm-5:00 pm, please contact Deacon Peter Klemens at deaconpeter@pwcaz.net. This is a great way to assist those in need!

Check out the link to the PWC calendar for February and the beginning of March: Calendar of Events. The rest of March will be out soon with lots of great social distance activities here at PWC. Due to Covid-19, and with so much uncertainty, we are only planning month to month.

Pastoral counseling is something you might find beneficial. Fr. Mike Lessard is in the office on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Or, if you want to social distance or cannot come into the office, Fr. Mike is available via the phone. Please call the office, 480-649-0300, to make an appointment with Fr. Mike. If you are struggling with something in your life, please know we are here for you and want to assist you.

Your generous tithing continues the important work of PWC during these trying times of Covid-19. It allows us to minister to those who are struggling and in need of spiritual, emotional and financial support. Thank you for your financial support and prayers. You can tithe in one of three ways:
Mail in your gift to: Praise and Worship Center, 2551 N. Arizona Avenue, Chandler, AZ 85225.
Donate on our web page: Donation Form.
Sign up for monthly giving with a credit card or voided check. Just call the office at 480-649-0300.

We continue to pray for peace and healing in our world.

We are looking forward to seeing you this Sunday morning at 10:00 in church or on Facebook Live. Happy Valentine’s Day!

Love,
Fr. Dale and Pastor Mark
