Ministries

Project We Care

Project we Care is an outreach ministry to the needy. For twelve months, starting in May 2009 we pledge $1,000 per month to an agency that works with the needy. To date we have supported several ministries, including Matthew’s Crossing Food Bank, which provides food assistance to our neighbors throughout Chandler, and the Friends of the Orphans where the contributions went to the orphans in Haiti.

Anonymous Prayer Partner

Who is an anonymous Prayer Partner? Anyone who volunteers to pray every day for a week for the specific intention expressed by another person (their anonymous partner).

How does a Prayer Partner learn what the specific intention is?
As people come into a Praise and Worship Service, those who choose to do so write down on a 4”x5” index card their specific intention at the time. These intentions are prayed for during the Praise and Worship Service. After the Prayer and Worship Service, a volunteer Prayer Partner picks up one of the cards from the “sign-in” table, takes it home, and reads the specific intention written on the card.

What are some examples of specific intentions?
• For my wife who is in intensive care right now.
• For my grandson in the military who was deployed to Iraq last Saturday.
• For “a second chance.”

What are some examples of prayers for a specific intention?
• Lord, I join in prayer with this man whose wife is in intensive care. We hold her up to You and ask for her healing.
• Lord, I place in Your loving hands this grandson who has been sent to Iraq. I pray along with his family that You protect him and return him safe and sound.
• Lord, I don’t know what is meant by a “second chance” but my partner knows and You know. It is important to my Partner and now it is important to me. We rely on Your goodness to grant this “second chance.”

Does a Prayer Partner reveal any specific intention?
No! part of being a Prayer Partner includes promising to never reveal what was written on a card and destroying the card at the end of one week. Talk about it with God and no one else.

How does one volunteer for become a Prayer Partner?
This is the easy part. The cards will be set out on the “sign-in” tables after the service. Simply take an index card and this instruction sheet as you leave a Praise and Worship Service, pray for the intention for one week, and then destroy the card. It is all quite anonymous.

Please do NOT send your prayer intention to the email address. You can write it on a 3”x5” or 4”x6” index card and bring it to the next service, or there will be cards available at the registration table. Thank you.

Hospitality

The men and women on the Hospitality Committee show the love of Christ by creating a warm, welcoming environment for those who attend Sunday Praise & Worship services as well as other events. The Welcoming table provides general information as well as a place to register, obtain name tags, and sign-up for various activities. Refreshments after each service and event give people the opportunity to enjoy goodies as well as fellowship with other participants.

Volunteers are needed:

  • Outside – to greet those arriving and provide assistance.
  • Inside – to make people feel welcome, provide directions and answer questions.
  • At the Hospitality table – to help with name tags and provide information about the Praise and Worship Center.
  • At the Refreshment Table – to serve and to help with set-up and clean up.
  • At the Service – to distribute song sheets, ushers, and take up the collection.

If you are available to help, please stop at the Registration table to volunteer.
